New Argentine Wines to add to my cellar.

btyWith my better half having headed home for a few weeks, it was a very welcome home to her yesterday, as she had brought four beauties home with her good self to be enjoyed.

Pride of place goes to the Zuccardi Aluvional Paraje Altamira 2014 Malbec, always a high scorer in @timatkin annual report.

Close behind is the Bressia Pinot Noir Piel Negra 2016 from Lujan de Cuyo, and an extremely interesting Malvasia from Tupungato and Ls Escala Humana winery. Not a wine I have ever tried before, but Tim gave this a score of 95 in his latest report, and definitely one I’ll be awaiting with anticipation.

Rounding off the arrivals is the Perro Callejero Malbec blend, from three vineyards in the Mosquita Muerta Collection. Interesting translation of the names here, the wine coming out as Stray Dog, from the Dead Mosquito Winery. Good sense of humour from Jose Milan and his company.

Looking forward to trying these out over time, and will report accordingly.

New Wine arrivals

Bellmunt PrioratMy Wines Direct monthly explorers club case landed this morning, and one surprise out of the box was this White Grenache/Viognier blend from Priorat in Catalonia. The region is, of course, far better known for its robust Reds, and this will be a new experience for me. The high altitude vineyard sees the expertise of winemaker, Marta Rovira Carbonell to the fore, on behalf of the family run Mas d’en Gil.
